Korean fans pay tribute to Michael Jackson

Korean fans of Michael Jackson, the late “King of Pop,” will mark the seventh anniversary of his death with several events.

An exhibition titled “Homage to Michael Jackson 2016-Dancing the Dream” will be held at Gallery Fifty Fifty in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, from June 24 to July 5, the exhibition’s organizer said Tuesday.

Composed of 25 artists working in various fields, including painting, installation art, video and graffiti, the group has held the exhibition annually since the pop star’s death.

K-pop singer Jung Hyun-mo, who drew attention for his so-called “Michael Jackson dance” on Mnet’s singing competition show “I Can See Your Voice” in 2015, will perform at the opening event, which starts at 7 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday, the anniversary of the day Jackson died, a flash mob led by Nam Hyun-joon, better known as Poppin’ Hyun-joon for his “poppin” dance skills, will be in front of exit No. 8 at Sinsa station in southern Seoul at 7 p.m.

“Remembering Michael 2016-I’ll Be There,” organized by the association of Michael Jackson’s fans here, will be held in the Bluelight Live Hall in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The show, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the singer’s performance here in 1996, will show highlights of that concert and a memorial video made by fans.
